Twenty-two events in January 2025, including the Adelboden, Wengen, and Kitzbühel Classics, make this month one of the most exciting times on the Alpine Ski World Cup calendar. Adelboden, Wengen, and Kitzbühel are the only venues that have been part of the World Cup since its foundation in 1967.
Last season's double Downhill Kitzbühel winner Cyprien Sarrazin will be the notable absentee at the Alpine Skiing World Cup in January after his heavy fall during the second downhill training session on the Stelvio in Bormio.
After the first 24 of the 72 Alpine Ski World Cup races (14 out of 38 for men and 10 out of 34 for women), Marco Odermatt leads the Men's Overall standings with 630 points ahead of the Norwegian duo of Henrik Kristoffersen (469) and Atle Lie MacGrath (382).
The fight for Women's standings is fiercer, especially after Mikaela Shiffrin's injury. Swiss Camille Rast leads the Overall standings with 351 points. Croatian rising star Zrinka Ljutic is second with 334 points. Italian veteran Federica Brignone is third with 319 points.

Update 12.29.2024: After his big crash during the Alpine Ski World Cup Downhill training on the Stelvio slope in Bormio, there is finally some positive news for Cyprien Sarrazin. The 30-year-old Frenchman underwent successful head surgery and woke up from an artificial coma. His condition is stable, the French Ski Federation announced on Saturday.
According to team doctor Stéphane Bulle, the French skier remains in hospital under observation. However, a CT scan showed encouraging progress, and race doctor Mario Teruzzi said Sarrazin's condition was better than expected. Despite the positive development, the time frame for his full recovery remains uncertain.
