Clement Noël achieved his third victory of the season in the Alpine Ski World Cup, winning on the Chuenisbärgli hill in Adelboden. Lucas Pinheiro Braathen finished in second place, just 0.02 seconds behind the Frenchman. Henrik Kristoffersen secured third place, finishing 0.14 seconds behind Noël.
Reigning Olympic Slalom Champion Clement Noël has 13 World Cup Slalom victories and 27 podiums to his name. With today's victory, Noël moves to second place, tied with Noël Augert with 13 wins on the list of France’s most successful World Cup slalom skiers. Perrine Pelen holds the record with 15 wins.
The 27-year-old skier is the second Frenchman to win in Adelboden after Julien Lizeroux win in 2010.
"Adelboden has always been a bit of a struggle for me. I did my first podium here in 2019, but since then it has been really difficult for me. Now I think I can comfortably say that I love Adelboden and today it was an incredible victory for me," Noel said.
Lucas Pinheiro Braathen achieved his second podium finish of the season today in Adelboden. In the Giant Slalom at Beaver Creek on December 8, 2024, he made history by finishing second becoming the first Brazilian athlete to reach a World Cup podium in Alpine Skiing.
"I live for those moments that I just got to experience. Standing in front of tens of thousands of beautiful fans here in Adelboden today and being the man in the middle of the show, that's why I do what I do. I'm just beyond grateful," Pinheiro Braathen said.
With his third podium finish in this season's sixth slalom event in Adelboden, Kristoffersen has now taken the lead in the discipline’s standings.
The Norwegian, with 55 podiums in this discipline, is in fourth position in the ranking of most podiums in Slalom. Only three other men have won more podium finishes in World Cup Slalom events than Kristoffersen: Ingemar Stenmark (81), Marcel Hirscher (65), and Alberto Tomba (57).
"When we are third, it's a good day. Of course, 14 hundredths would have been possible, but that's life, that's skiing, and the two guys in front skied really well. To finish on the podium on a difficult day like this, I'm very happy," Kristoffersen said.
