Federica Brignone won her third consecutive Giant Slalom race on Saturday in Are. She finished 1.36 seconds ahead of New Zealander Alice Robinson after setting the fastest time in both runs. Lara Colturi finished in third place 1.43 seconds behind Brignone. The Italian skier celebrated her ninth win of the season, the most she has achieved in any season of her career.

With her fifth Giant Slalom win of the season, the 34-year-old Italian is now just 20 points behind Robinson in the discipline standings with just one run in the Finals in Sun Valley remaining.

It's the 36th World Cup victory and 17th in Giant Slalom for the 2024-2025 Overall leader. With her victory today, Brignone surpassed Tessa Worley and Annemarie Moser-Pröll in third place on the all-time list of winners in women's Giant Slalom. Only Mikaela Shiffrin with 22, and Vreni Schneider with 20 are ahead of the Italian.

The 34-year-old is already the oldest winner of a women's World Cup race. Of her 36 World Cup victories, more than half (21) have come after she turned 30. The Italian consolidates her leading position in the overall standings. Lara Gut-Behrami, who finished ninth today, is now 322 points behind Brignone.

"I really like Are, it is one of my favorite GS on the tour. I love this snow. Since last year here in Are I have so many good memories. I thought I had already lost after my mistake. That's not usually good, and that's why I gave it my all until the end," Brignone said.
