In the Men's Super-G there were no surprises. The top favorite in Saalbach 2025, Marco Odermatt, secured gold in dominant fashion, becoming the fourth Swiss skier to win World Championships Super-G gold and the first since Didier Cuche's victory in Val d'Isère in 2009. With today's World Champion title, the exceptionally talented 27-year-old skier secures the triple crown: Olympic Champion, World Champion, and World Cup Champion.
Odermatt adds his third World Championship gold, following his victories in Giant Slalom and Downhill at Courchevel-Meribel 2023. Only Pirmin Zurbriggen and Hermann Maier, and now Odermatt are the only skiers to triumph at the World Championships in the Downhill, Super-G, and Giant Slalom.
"It's crazy. It's the one gold medal that was missing and now to have this one also in my pocket is another dream come true. The run was very, very close to perfection. There aren't many such perfect days, perfect runs. I experienced that two years ago in the downhill in Courchevel when you reach the finish line and think it can't get any better. If everything is right, the trust, the material - I noticed at the second gate that the skis were doing exactly what I wanted - then you can take risks and not feel like you are at your limit, and that is a cool feeling," Odermatt said.
Raphael Haaser finished in second place one second behind Odermatt. Just 24 hours after Stephanie Venier's remarkable gold medal win, Haaser secured Austria's second medal at the Alpine World Ski Championships held in Saalbach. For Haaser it is his second medal at a World Championship after winning bronze in the Combined two years ago in Courchevel-Meribel.
"I'm really speechless. I'm pleased that I was able to perform to my potential again. It's even cooler that it ended like this. Home World Championships and going away with a medal is just amazing," Haaser said.
Bronze went to Norwegian Adrian Smiseth Sejersted (+1.15). It was his first Super-G podium since the Bormio World Cup in December 2020.
Local favorite Vincent Kriechmayr, the World Champion in Cortina 2021, finished 4th, just 0.10 seconds away from the podium.
