Zrinka Ljutic followed up his first Alpine Ski World Cup win seven days ago in Semmering by winning the Slalom on Kranjska Gora in dominant fashion after setting the fastest time in both runs.
The 20-year-old beat by 0.16 seconds a superb Wendy Holdener after being tied with the best time in the first run. Anna Swenn-Larsson rounded up the podium in third place 1.19 seconds off the pace.
The Croatian raising star now leads the Slalom standings with 309 points. She also took over the lead in the Overall Alpine Ski World Cup from Sara Hector.
Ljutic showed particular nerves of steel after Holdener's phenomenal second run.
"I'm speechless. I didn't know how well Wendy skied. I had my own idea and I was really focusing on myself. I decided the tempo of the run, how I wanted to ski, and I really tried to stick to that vision, I was trying to push everywhere," Ljutic said.
Wendy Holdener claimed her 37th podium in Slalom today. It's the 18th time she has finished second in a World Cup Slalom. No Woman finished runner-up as many times in the World Cup Slalom events as Holdener.
"I didn't feel so good. My body is pretty stressed (...) I'm satisfied. I attacked, I gave everything. It's an amazing fight. It was difficult but I like it that way. It was a nice course setting for me. This result feels good, it makes it easier. The skiing was good, I'll keep working," Holdener said.
Anna Swenn Larsson finished third, moving up one place from the first run at the expense of Camille Rast, who dropped to fourth and lost her lead in the Slalom standings. The Swede has 14 Slalom World Cup podiums to her name.
"I feel in good shape and of course a podium is amazing. I'm super happy but I still feel I have so much more that I want to get out there," Swenn Larsson said.
